Today was the day that, sadly, we took the Chards to the airport. We thought they were happily on their way home, only to find out that the plane was forced to return to the gate because of storms to the west. As of now, well after 7 PM, they're still on the ground. What a miserable experience, especially with a baby. I spoke with Julie a short time ago and she said that Gavin is being pretty good so far.
Just a FYI for all of you Illinois folks: The city of Naperville is having a one day recycling program on Saturday June 7th from 9 until 3. They will collect electronics, books, scrap metal, gym shoes, cell phones, ink jet cartridges, flags, eyeglasses, hearing aids, keys, bicycles and parts. I've been wondering what to do with some of these things, especially old computer and electronic stuff, so I'm hoping to get inspired to gather a bunch of things and get them over there. If any of you have such things to get rid of, and want to keep them out of landfills, feel free to give them to me.
Tomorrow is the city's annual tree sale, so Pop and I are planning to get out early and purchase a couple of redbud trees for the front yard. We borrowed George McKissick's van because we wouldn't be able to fit the trees in the RAV4, and there's a robin's nest, complete with eggs, on the awning of the PW.
Later tomorrow, our friends Dennis and Teddy Law are coming over. They live in Las Vegas and came to town last week. We plan to go to Walter Payton's Roundhouse for dinner. None of us have ever been there, and we'll be meeting Bob and Vicki Janus there as well. Sunday our vacation will be over, and both Pop and I will be working.
It was fun having lots of family time this week. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
So what's new in your lives??????????????
Love, Mom
