Sami Update

We were able to see an orthopedic pediatrician this afternoon. Sami and Chris were excited because the office had a fishtank and a water dispenser. That kept them busy for a while, but not long enough. They were growing restless by the time we were called in. The nurse was very patient and explained to Chris how the colored bars on the door were used to tell the doctor the status of the rooms and patients inside.

We waited awhile for him to show up. Then he pressed on the collarbone and confirmed it was healing properly. He gave us some encouraging news, and said it should be better in three to four weeks and not six to eight weeks. His examination took maybe five minutes, it took him fifteen minutes to get out as Sami felt he needed to know every detail of her life.

We will go back for x-rays in three weeks and will let you know what we learn. Until then, we need to find a way to convince Sami that once she can move the arm basically painfree, it is not fixed and she still needs to be careful.

Wow! That will be a supreme challenge for all four of you. Maybe you should leave the brace on even after the 3 weeks are up as sort of a reminder. It's too bad that she won't be able to do some of the things at the Ice Cream Social on Saturday, but we can make sure that she, and all of us, enjoy ourselves.

Thanks for the update, Michele! Please tell Sami that Uncle Brandon and Gavin and I are thinking of her and hoping she heals FAST. Eat some ice cream for us tomorrow!
