Dreary Monday

It seems I just deleted a rather extensive message. Will I ever get to be computer competent?

Pop has gone to a wake this evening, for the father of the wife of one of his bowling buddies. I stayed home because I need to go to bed early in order to get up at 4 tomorrow. Weak excuse, no?

We're getting back to normal, whatever that is, after vacation. The laundry is finally caught up, and the piles of stuff all over the kitchen are diminishing. It makes me crazy to have clutter all over the table and counters, so I'm determined to keep after it.

The garden is producing, especially green beans, cucumbers, zucchini and peppers. Free veggies will be given to anyone who stops by! No ripe tomatoes yet, but plenty of green ones. We've gotten a little rain today and that should help things along. I tried using moth balls to repel the chipmunks from digging in all the flower pots. So far it seems to be effective.

The Devonshire's Ice Cream Social was a lot of fun. It was "girls" day for us, as Sami, Michele, Gram and I were the attendees. They had pony rides, a caterpillar crawl, an inflatable slide (Sami's favorite), a magician, and of course ice cream, corn dogs, popcorn and snow cones. We hope that Chris and D.J. had fun at the first meeting of their chess club.

I have a new front end manager starting this week. Hope she turns out to be as good as Laurie was. She was very understanding about whatever time I needed to take off.

Still haven't gotten around to shopping for another car. It needs to be big enough for Gram to get into and out of, but good gas mileage is another requirement. Any suggestions? Just before we left for Utah, it cost me $470 for a new water pump and hoses and cooling system flush. At least it's no longer gushing anti-freeze all over the garage floor.

I'm hoping that my boys will keep me up to date on the job market situation. I don't like asking all the time, but Pop and I are certainly interested and anxious. You're in our prayers and we hope for quick resolutions. Anything we can do, let us know.

This time I hope not to delete this thing, so I shall publish! Happy summer, everyone!

I personally like the mazda 3. (I'm not biassed or anything.) :) As far as Gram getting in and out of a vehicle, an SUV of sort would work the best because you're stepping up into it, not down. I'm not sure that's the route you'd like to take though. Worse gas mileage too. My mom has a little suzuki XL7 SUV that is nice and she loves it. It was super easy for my Grandma to get in and out of when she was going places. She would actually request my parents to bring the suzuki verses their car for this very reason.

As for Dave's job situation, he is going to work for WaMu until Feb. 28th. He'll then have 4 1/2 months of severance and receive a retention bonus. He wanted to work at HSBC for his old boss, but there won't be a manager postion available until 1st quarter of next year. Maybe it will work out afterall?
